Nancy Saemmer's Fundraising Page
After fourteen years as a public school teacher, I came to work for CASA of Humboldt as a case supervisor in April 2003. What an amazing experience it has been for me to sit at the feet of our wonderful volunteers and watch these people advocate during a very uncertain time in the children's lives. Seeing these adult volunteers give of their time, talents, love and devotion to the children, and then take what they know of the children's circumstances to the Court so that the Judicial Officer can make a more informed decision is awe-inspiring. I have learned many lessons as a member of the CASA staff. I now know how people can give of themselves to make a difference. I also understand more intimately the trials and hardships that some children and their families must endure. I always say that I would have liked to have had the CASA experience before my years as an educator. I now have first-hand knowledge of why some children can't concentrate in the classroom, why they don't have their homework done, and/or why their clothes aren't clean. Our ability to help these children has been severely undermined as we have lost over 75% of our state funding over the last three years. Any support you can give to CASA will not be wasted.
