Committee Blob:
Miracles in Motion is a team of dedicated individuals that are running in the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on behalf of honor patients(children who are battling cancer or who have battled cancer).

As a committee we volunteer and donate time to provide a second chance of living for the children.  We work together and reach out to the community for help.  We appreciate you taking the time to visit our page and helping the children in need.

A volunteer member's story:

The second day of her senior year in high school Natalia was diagnosed with Stage IV Rhabdomayosarcoma a primary mesenchymal tumor with rhabdomyoblastic differentiation, is the most common soft tissue malignancy in childhood, the tumor was located in her right sinus-cavity, surgery was not an option.  She was given two-months to live with treatment or without treatment; there was not any hope for her.  She was 17 and had her whole life ahead of her, how would this illness stop her from living?  After researching numerous hospitals and treatment centers, Phoenix Children's Hospital stuck out like a sore thumb.  The consultation was very hard to accept considering the odds were not in her or her families’ favor. The treatment plan consisted of extensive chemotherapy, one-week in the hospital three-weeks out, radiation and a bone-marrow transplant in Tucson, AZ.

Natalia wanted her second chance of living and with the support of her family, proceeded with the treatment plan. She set goals, had a positive attitude and was willing to do whatever it took to fight this battle. When entering the hospital for the first time, she felt at home: the atmosphere, the environment, most of all the staff and doctors were very friendly, nurturing, supportive, knowledged and genuine.

The journey began: five months of extensive chemotherapy, twenty-eight treatments of radiation and a final chance of survival: a bone marrow transplant. Twelve-years’ later Natalia is considered a walking miracle, she beat the odds and is cancer free. With the support of Phoenix Children’s Hospital she is here to tell her story and volunteer for an organization that allowed her a second chance of living!

This story is one of many, it is unfortunate that the hospital is expanding and treating numerous children on a daily basis. Your support and contributions will allow the hospital to provide miracle stories like the one above and hope for many children and families’!
