Each year student organizations at North Carolina State University participate in Shack-a-thon to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Participating organizations build wooden shacks on the campus' Brickyard which they then occupy 24 hours a day for one week. During this time, organizations panhandle, sell baked goods, perform, and do whatever else it takes to raise money for bragging right of being the top fundraising shack.

This year, Shack-a-thon runs from September 19-23, 2011. Online donations will be accepted toward shacks' fundraising totals through September 30, 2011.

All donations go to Habitat for Humanity of Wake County and are tax deductable.
