Nelda Luce Blair's Fundraising Page
Mahatma Gandhi said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
All of my life, my heart has held a special place for animals, and especially for those who become homeless or abused. Jim Blair and I are involved with Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas. This group saves these gentle, funny and devoted hound dogs, most all of them beautiful pure-bred Basset Hounds, from overflowing animal shelters. Many are abandoned by owners who, quite simply, can no longer care for them.
You may have met our own Bassets, "Fred" (after Judge Fred Edwards), "Junior" (after Tax Assessor J.R. Moore, Jr.), "Mister Ed" (after Commissioner Ed Chance), and "Tomas' " (after Sheriff Tommy Gage). We also have a precious foster Basset Hound "Maynard" who is waiting to be adopted by his own forever family. What you may not realize is that all of our dogs are "rescues" who were destined for euthanasia. (See photo at left...)
You can imagine how costly it can be to help these animals, but it is also a very rewarding mission. Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas greatly needs funds for the overflow of hounds we care for right now. Every dollar goes toward saving the lives of loving hound dogs, who truly deserve a second chance at life.
My request is simple: I ask for $25 from everyone who visits this page. And, please forward this request to anyone else who might want to donate!
Also, please visit BBR's web site at http://www.basset-buddies-rescue.org/ See Maynard's story there, and meet other foster hounds like "Monty" who loves kids; or happy-go-lucky "Zach"; or sweet sisters "Thelma & Louise". Who knows? You just might fall in love and want your own Basset Hound, or maybe provide a temporary foster home!
Thank you so much! Donating your $25 through this web site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support this fund raising effort. With heartfelt gratitude, Nelda Luce Blair
