Dear Friends:

Unbelievable as it may seem, I decided to enter and have won a place in the 2012 London Triathlon. The big day is Sunday, September 23.

More than just a chance to prove to myself that I can do this, completing a triathlon represents a great opportunity to raise money for an outstanding organization that works tirelessly to help children in need in South Africa.

The Starfish Greathearts Foundation brings life, hope and opportunity to children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS, by identifying the very best community-based organizations and partnering with them to ensure the highest quality care.

Starfish's partners focus on delivering nutrition, medical attention, education and housing to kids who, as a result of the devastating effect of HIV/AIDS on their families, are denied the fundamental human right of food, shelter and the opportunity to learn.

Without the support of those more fortunate than themselves, many of the affected kids face a bleak and often short existence.  Any donation, however small, helps give these children a shot at 'normal', giving them a chance to beat the odds, make something of their lives and be more than just another grim statistic.  

Every contribution will absolutely make a difference!
