October 11-16, 2008 Mission Trip

MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITIES
Kingston, Jamaica

As many of you know, for the past 8 years we have enjoyed the privilege of traveling on short-term mission trips to Kingston, Jamaica.  Mustard Seed Communities, founded in 1979 by Fr. Gregory Ramkissoon, reaches out in Christ's name to nurture and care for more than 600 abandoned,  disabled and HIV/AIDS children in Jamaica, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Zimbabwe.

We have been blessed to share this life-changing experience with others.   This year we will be returning to MSC-Kingston, leading a group of adults from our incredible parish in Roswell, GA:  St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church.

These continued trips would not be possible if it were not for the gracious prayer and financial support of so many.  The generosity of friends, co-workers and family has been incredible!   It shows  a willingness to invest in our familly and in the children of MSC.  Once again, we need to solicit your aid.   All of the donations received go directly to help meet the children's everyday needs...food, shelter, and medication.

We would especially appreciate  your prayers.   We have found nothing is as important as the prayers that you can offer for this year's missionaries and especially for all of the precious children.

Please consider your role as a patron of our mission team.  If you can find it in your heart to donate monetarily, using this website is simple, fast and totally secure.   It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.  If you will pray for us, please send an e-mail to nkdonne@bellsouth.net. .

Thank you in advance for your prayers.   May God bless you and your family!

Update on the ministries of MSC:
In the slums of Kingston, Jamaica, we have communities that care for children with severe disabilities that have been abandoned.  We have several homes that provide loving, nurturing care for children whose lives have been affected by the worldwide epidemic of HIV/AIDS.  Children who were once abandoned and alone are now loved and cared for.  We have additional homes that care for children in Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Zimbabwe, as well as our Christ in the Garbage Ministries.

Christ in the Garbage was set up to help the desperately poor families that live in the city dumps in these third world countries.  These impoverished people struggle to maintain a minimal existence from the garbage that is dumped there every day.  We distribute food and have initiated economic development programs that encourage these families to break out of the cycle of poverty gripping their lives.  So far, MSC is helping in the dumps of Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, but has identified a total of 33 communities they wish to uplift around the world.

Mustard Seed Communities' programs in Zimbabwe continue to expand reaching out to more and more children in need.  Through our nutrition program, we continue to feed about 600 children each day that would otherwise starve.  200 children attend classes daily at our "Little Angels Pre-school where children learn and receive two hot meals during the day.

The HIV/AIDS crisis in all of Africa has been well-documented and the number of children in Zimbabwe that need homes and care continues to increase at alarming rates.   We have homes for these children as well as long-term expansion plans for our facilities there.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to pray or donate too
