On February 25, I have committed for my fourth consecutive year to grin and “bear” it for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois by taking a chilly dip into Lake Michigan alongside several other warm-hearted individuals. Because I loved the atmosphere of the people surrounding me during this and the warm hearts that participated in this event, I continued working with Special Olympics in the summer at the Summer Olympic Games in Bloomington, Illinois. This experience has changed my life and is continuing to do so each year.
I’m collecting donations from family, friends, co-workers and anyone else who wants to support the nearly 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 6,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 of Special Olympics Illinois! Your donations will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in year-round sports training and competition.
To reward your generosity, I’m going to join more than 5,700 people statewide who will voluntarily jump into freezing cold water in the middle of winter as we take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunges for Special Olympics Illinois. I guess you could say that I’m “Freezin’ for a Reason”!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the LETR Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois.
Many thanks for your support – and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
