Boston Marathon 2010 Boston,  Massachusetts

Nicole DeBlois's Fundraising Page

I wanted to provide an official update to everyone who has been tracking me and supporting me along this crazy journey I decided to take.

Well, here we are! It is April 20th and I have officially made it through the first marathon! Yesterday was a gorgeous day in Boston. The weather was cool and the sun was shining. So I and 26,700 of my closest friends decided to take a nice long run from Hopkinton to Boston. Personally, it was not one of my best performances by any stretch of the imagination, but I am on the other side and that was my only goal for the day.

Below are my splits. As you can see, the wheels came off the bus at about mile 17. But I think that may have been someone trying to tell me something because today, although I have some sore feet and joints, my muscles are feeling pretty good. Well, that might be a taking it a bit too far. I always forget how downhill the overall course is and my quads are having fun reminding me that they took a pounding. So let’s go with my muscles are feeling relatively good for just running 26 miles.

So, now it is official. I booked my flight to San Francisco this morning. I should have booked it weeks ago! I think subconsciously I was a little nervous to claim victory over Boston too soon. Now the results are in and I am headed to California on Friday afternoon.

For all of you who are wondering…. yes, I now agree with you that this whole idea was / is insane. There is a fine line between crazy and stupid and I think I might be teetering on it a bit. I am questioning my decision making skills just a bit. But alas, California here I come!

In the meantime, I will be focused on two things (besides keeping all of my clients happy of course!!!).
1) I will be trying to repress the thoughts I had yesterday at about 2:45 when I said there is no way I am getting on plane to run another 26 miles. And
2) I will be trying not to pass out as I submerge myself in a tub of ice for 20 minutes at a time.

THANK YOU so much for all of your support not only with this insane challenge, but for supporting me in all of my crazy undertakings.

And a special thank you to everyone who has donated to my fundraising effort. It has been a great change in pace to add a fund raising component to my finishing goal. I am almost there. So, for those of you who would like to donate, you can do that at http://www.firstgiving.com/nicoledeblois Every dollar counts and I would love to exceed my goal.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

After running the Boston Marathon with my Mom in 2008, I figured it would be a few years before I ran up Heartbreak HIll again... but when asked to run for Boston Partners in Education, I had to take them up on it.

This will be the first marathon that I have run for a charity and am very excited for the new dynamic of training with a team all committed to the same goal. I figured I would up the stakes by doing back to back marathons. I will run Boston on Monday April 19th, then fly to the West Coast and run the Big Sur marathon on Sunday April 25th.

Please support my effort by donating what you can to Boston Partners.
