Charles Stroh Fund for Davis Reef
In the last 3 years we have raised almost a fifth of what's required in order to complete the research necessary to restore Davis Reef, and even more importantly, take that knowledge and apply restoration to our dying reefs world wide.
In the last 20 years, Coral Reefs have seen a tremendous decline in their health, leaving less protective borders for our land and leaving little to no nutrition for our sea-life to thrive on.
The Wild Life Foundation of Florida began a fund in our father's name - Charles Stroh - an avid fisherman and lover of sea-life. Prior to his passing in 2006, he dedicated himself to kick-starting a coalition dedicated to researching how we can improve the quality of our world's coral. After he passed away, that coalition came to life.
On his fourth anniversary, The Restoration Ecology team held an event with Charlie's family showing them the progress of the research they had made thus far. The result ? What they are doing is WORKING! Coral Outplantings then began in the fall of 2010 and our monitoring of these outplants has begun.
This effort needs to be a sustained multi-year effort of coral outplanting and monitoring which is why we need your help. $100,000 is alot of money, but the improvements that it will make, and the new science it will discover and apply around the world is invaluable.
Any donation amount helps and we definitely appreciate every cent of it.
Sincerely,
Nicole & Brandon Hass
