I have worked with Citizen Schools for over two years, and I am continuously INSPIRED and FIRED UP by the work we do to ignite a love of learning in our students and to ensure all our students have access to a quality education and the opportunity for college and career success. 

What is unique about the Citizen Schools model is this concept of a 'second shift' of educators who can provide the academic and social support students need while not continuing to overburden our full-time teachers in the most challenging schools.  Additionally, Citizen Schools' students get the opportunity to participate in citizen-volunteer led apprenticeships twice a week.  We have journalists, lawyers, artists, architects, scientists and engineers working with students on semester-long hands-on learning projects that bring their traditional classroom lessons in math, science and english -- to life.  Not only are these exciting and often new experiences for our students, but the the opportunity to work alongside adult experts exposes students to career opportunities and networks that they may have never otherwise been exposed to.

In my work at Citizen Schools, as the Director of New Site Cultivation, I am working to expand our work to more students across the country.  We currently serve students in 37schools across 7 states and are poised to serve more, with your help!
