Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I hope to raise some money for the Blue Hills Trailside Museum and the Raptor Research Project. Each year my husband and I take part in Massaudubon's Bird-a-thon Event.
Sanctuaries within Massaudubon compete against each other in an attempt to find the most bird species in a 24 hour period. This years event takes place May 15th & 16th, 2009. We are also looking for a few good birders who are intersted in taking part in the fun event.
All money raised for The Blue Hills Bird-a-thon team goes directly to the Raptor Research Project!
Our current research projects include the Snowy Owl Telemetry Project, Saw- Whet Owl migration studies, and operation of ahawk banding station in the Blue Hills.
Funds raised go towards equipment like:
Satellite transmitters - $3,000 each
Tracking fees for satellite transmitters - $3,000
Mist nets - $100
Recently The Snowy Owl Project has expanded on a more global scale! The Raptor Research fund has also helped in purchasing a snowmobile for a researcher in Russia that is also studying Snowy Owls on Wrangell Island in the Arctic!
