Orna Grand's Fundraising Page
Dear Friends,
In 1996 we moved to Westport from NYC,and the one thing I looked forward to was gardening. For my protection I chose to take the Lymerix vaccine only to have had a severe reaction to it after the second dose. In 2002 I was bitten by a tick, and was co-infected with Bartonella and Lyme. It took several months to diagnose, then the rough road of 3 years on various antibiotic regimes from oral anitibiotics to IV antibiotics. Due to my continued neurological and immune symptoms my treatment was changed to IVIG (gamma globulin infusions) to support my immune system and improve the neuorlogical signs. I am finally on the slow road to recovery, and seldom lost my sense of humor on the arduous journey of doctor and hospital hopping.
I decided it was time to try and make a difference so that other people's journeys are not such a nightmare. I want to play a big part in educating the public and increasing awareness of this awful disease. Our first annual create footprints run/walk last April 2009 was a huge success where over 500 people attended the event. So please join me and my family for the second annual create footprints in the fight against Lyme disease run/walk on April 11,2010.
