My name is Oscar and I live at the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  The shelter took me in more than 13 years ago and at the time they thought I had only 6 months to live.  Well, I'm still here despite the disease that I have called "beak and feather."  It is contagious to other birds and that is why I'm able to stay at the shelter.  I stay in the clinic area and oversee the animals getting their shots and I can even watch surgery. 

I get lots of love and attention from the staff and volunteers every day.  Although I won't be able to come to the walk, I hope you will help me raise money for the homeless animals that come to the shelter every day.  The Humane Society of Broward County finds homes for thousands of animals every year.  They also do educational presentations, low cost spay/neuter services for pets that have homes, pet behavior counseling and more!  It is because of generous people that make donations to the shelter that they are able to help so many animals.
