This project that Slinger High School has participated in has had an impact on the students here and at St. Marcus Lutheran Grade School. Throughout this project I have kept a buddy journal with one student from that grade school. Throughout this semester I have been able to write back and forth with this student and get to know more about him.
Part of this project is to participate in an organization called Hoops of Hope. This organization helps children that are in need. On May 17th Slinger High School will go to St. Marcus Lutheran School. We will then be able to meet our buddy for the first time. Then, on May 22nd their school will come to ours for Hoops of Hope.
At first when I started writing to my buddy I wasn’t too sure about how much my buddy would share with me. Since I didn’t know what to expect from my buddy, I didn’t expect for him to share everything with me. As this process went on writing to my buddy became natural, just like I was writing to someone I talk to everyday. I was motivated to do this project because for these students to talk to someone might just make their day.
