Recently my childhood friend of over 30 years was diagnosed with Sjögren’s (pronounced "SHOW-grins") Syndrome. Sjögren’s is a progressive autoimmune disease that most people have never heard of and therefore in much need of further research and awareness. With Sjögren’s Syndrome the body’s immune system wages war upon its moisture producing glands. It frequently leads to debilitating fatigue, joint pain, and other systemic ailments. Treatments exist to help cope with the symptoms, but presently there is no cure. 

 

On May 2nd I am participating in the Philadelphia Sjögren’s Walkabout. I am doing this for my friend, Sandra.  I not only consider her to be my friend, but also my sister and I want to participate in the walkabout to raise money so science can one day find a cure for her.  
 

I know that times are tough right now, but there is no minimum donation, anything would help.  I care for Sandra very much and I am saddened by her illness.  I would appreciate any help that you may give.
