Patrick Brennan's Fundraising Page
First thank you so much for visiting my donation page!!
Do you remember the first math problem you struggled to solve? Or the first word you could not sound out?
Odds are, you have long forgotten the math problem and the word but I am certain you remember the feeling. See as you grow older you appreciate the act of learning but as a child many students struggle with learning how to learn.
I am running the 2009 Boston Marathon® with Boston Partners in Education a truly remarkable organization with over 40 years of experience of providing support to Boston Public Schools to give children, of all ages, the necessary tools to learn. Boston Partners in Education provides volunteer mentoring programs to support students of all ages in mathematics and literacy.
As a child I struggled to learn how to read even though I excelled in mathematics. As a young child I remember working on math problems ahead of my peers but struggling to read out loud in class. I would become nervous, embarrassed and desperately waiting for minute math or flash cards. It was a special reading program that gave me the confidence and desire to learn how to read and today I have a strong passion for books.
I am ecstatic to be running my first marathon with Boston Partners in Education. We all remember the teachers, mentors and coaches that inspired our success and now we have a chance to support this inspiration.
I ask you to please donate with me to support this organization. Please pass along my donation page to those interested in supporting our cause.
Thanks for your time and donation. Together we will make a difference.
