Patrick Skahan's Road to the Century
It's that time of year again folks. When I "train" my butt off to tackle one of the most grueling rides in all of the world, perhaps even the universe. Its the Three Notch Century (cue applause). In the past I have done this race over a three day period, however last year I upped the ante and road all three days yes, but the last day I went back to the start and rode the full 100 miles, biking a total of 186 miles over three days!
This ride is no picnic as it covers Carwford Notch, Franconia Notch and The Kangamangus Highway. It's rugged and hilly and last year the full course took me 8 1/2 hours to complete!! But it is for a great cause, and what is that cause Rod?
"This ride benefits the programs at Northeast Passage, a regional non-profit that provides adapative recreation programming for individuals living witha variety of disabilities! Additionally, my cute as a button wife works for this organization and your donation helps her continue to be awesome!"
So, as you may or may not know every year I put forth a challenge to myself to correspond with my fundraising efforts - and this year it is no different.
I have challeneged myself to complete this ride in 6.5 hours, taking a full two hours off last years time. This, is no easy task I assure you. If I come in over this time goal, I will personally donate $1 for every minute I am over to make up for my inability to reach this goal,
There it is folks. Now dig deep into them pockets and sponsor me and this great cause!! Even if its a buck that works for me! And you can write off your donations to Mr. IRS and then roll around in refund money next April.
I salute you and thank you in advance for help. You're all model Americans.
