Thank you for visiting my site and supporting my efforts to raise money for World Vision. World Vision works to tackle the root causes of poverty by working with children, families, and their communities to provide things like clean water, health care, nutritious food, education, and economic opportunities.
After traveling to Uganda last January with an incredible group from Franklin College, I came back wanting to find creative ways to help support the Ugandan people and culture. Uganda is one of many African countries reaping the benefits of World Vision's work. Thus, when I was asked by one of my Pastors, Matt, to run the Chicago Marathon for Team World Vision, I could not turn it down.
Over the last four months I have been training for our October 11th marathon. Training with a group of 11 people from my church, and knowing that I am part of the 1,300 member team for World Vision has been a great experience. I never thought I would be able to run a marathon, but now I'm about to attempt it.
Now marks the most exciting part of this journey. Though the training has been difficult, I know that your support of this cause is beyond the worth of my efforts. So, I ask that you consider supporting Team World Vision, not merely for what I am doing, but because of the incredible work they do throughout the world.
My efforts alone would have little impact, but teamed with you and others, we can truly change countless lives in Africa.
You can check out more about World Vision at www.worldvision.org. I hope that you will not only support their cause this one time, but will consider supporting them as well in the future.
I will be sure to post updates leading up to the race on this site, as well as some post-race reflections. You can also sign up to have live race tracking of my progress on race day. Thanks,
