Cold weather is finally here in New England, even a bit of snow! Time to don the Penguin garb and prepare for that annual trek to the sea on January 1st, 2011.
At 12:00 Noon, the Jamestown Penguin Club will waddle from the Penguinery at Mackeral Cove, Jamestown, Rhode Island for the 34th Annual New Year's Day Plunge.
This will be my 24th Plunge and I hope to raise $2400.00 to mark this milestone. Our overall goal is our $100,000.00 goal. Times are tough I know, but please dig deep.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Your donation won't keep us Penguins warm, but it will help the club raise funds for Special Olympics Rhode Island, a program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
I would also like to invite you to come down and see us go in the water. The plunge is attended by thousands of people and hundreds jump in every year. You will definately see some sights. If you have a "bucket list" and want to do something crazy for a great cause before you die, consider jumping in! You can tell people that you have done something that many would never dare. (sort of how I started 24 years ago).
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
