Paul Kapalka's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I'm running the 2009 Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, D.C. to raise money for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF). This disease has affected a friend and her family, so I'd like to help by raising funds for the research of curing this deadly cancer.
Carcinoid
Carcinoid is the term used to refer to tumors that originate in the nerve cells that produce hormones, also known as the neuroendocrine system. Because tumors are slow-growing and release hormones that result in a wide range of symptoms, early diagnosis often does not occur and patients end up suffering longer than they should. Additionally, as an orphan disease affecting a smaller segment of the cancer patient population, carcinoid has not had the benefits of large scale financial investment to date. The bottom line is that this is a disease that needs an advocate and CFCF is the organization that has stepped up or the cause.
Please know that 100% of your donation goes directly to research (not overhead expenses) for carcinoid and other related neuroendocrine cancers, so you an be confident that you are making a real difference in lives of patients and their families.
This is my first marathon so I appreciate any support you can offer.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
