For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to support animals in need and the institutions that cared for them. My mother, Maria Eugenia Richardson Toro, was also an avid animal advocate, and am supporting this cause in honor of her memory and her love for animals. This year I found a local organization where I can fulfill my goal and remember my mother.

The Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS) is hosting Paws in the Park Dog Walk and Festival on April 29, 2012 from 1 – 4 PM. Many volunteers and staffers will be hard at work helping with this great cause to help educate the public on humane treatment of animals, as well as provide animals with shelter, prevent pain and cruelty, and place them in appropriate environments, with a goal of zero euthanasia.

The Humane Society wants to raise $30,000 this year to help its furry friends in need and I’d like to support their cause in meeting their goal.
