The Prairie Isle Dog Trekking (PIDT) sled dogs start running in harness in early September to get in condition for the sledding season. The dogs provide educational dog sledding experiences to people of all ages. And this year we wish to help raise awareness but also money for people who are struggling to pay for the medical costs to treat their dog with cancer. PIDT has lost a few team members to canine cancer over the years and understand the emotional and financial drain this can be on a family.
Meet the Prairie Isle sled dogs at PIDT dogs and follow our progress plus learn all about dog sledding at PIDT's Facebook page
PIDT Goal for the time period 9/1/2011-3/1/2012 is 600 miles
For every 50 miles the PIDT sled dogs run, PIDT will donate $5 to Canine Cancer Awareness, Inc., which offers financial assistance to families treating a dog with cancer.
PIDT will be posting pictures, videos and notes about our runs, along with a mile marker showing our progress in total miles so everyone can be involved.
Here’s how YOU can help! When you donate state in the comment area how you are participating, e.g. donating virtual miles of $10
1. Make a donation directly to support the PIDT sled dog's cause
2. Donate “virtual” miles to PIDT. Donation of $10 equals 10 miles, $25 equals 25 miles. Virtual miles will be added to the actual miles the dogs run.
3. Participate as a satellite runner. You keep track monthly of every mile you and your dog walk, run, scooter, bikejor, dog sled, skijor, etc. and donate money for those miles. You do not have to do this every month but why not! Your dog needs the exercise so why not raise money and awareness for canine cancer!
4. Satellite runners can also obtain pledges and donations from others to help support this fundraiser.
SATELLITE RUNNERS PLEASE DO THE ONLINE REGISTRATION AT (NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE) http://www.prairieisledogtrekking.com/fundraiser.html
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
