We are asking for your help with a year-end holiday charitable donation to help us pay off our mortgage and assist with some needed repairs on our wonderful building at 12 South Lake Avenue, Albany.
In September 1998, we took a 15 year mortgage with assistance from the Community AIDS Partnership (through funds raised in the very first AIDSWalk). I remember thinking at the time that we only needed a 15 year mortgage, because we would have a cure for HIV by then.
14 years later, we didn’t get the cure I hoped for, but we’ve come a long way with ensuring people are living with HIV. Sadly though, we now have more people than ever living with the virus and the need for our services has grown considerably. We are still here – thanks to you – and remain ready to help individuals and families - often when they need us the most...
Our goal is to raise $10,000, which includes $5,500 to pay off our mortgage and $4,500 for some needed roofing repairs. My hope is to cut a check on December 31, so the Albany Damien Center fully owns the building and can use the funds we would spend on the mortgage payments for other needed services to help people living with HIV/AIDS in our community.
I thank you in advance for your help – and please ask your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors in our community if they can help too – donations may be made online at First Giving or sent to us in memory of someone we’ve lost, in honor of a loved one, or as a holiday gift alternative. Plus, your donation is 100% tax deductable.
On behalf of the wonderful people living with HIV/AIDS we serve each day, I sincerely thank you for your compassion and on-going support.
Sincerely, Perry Junjulas
