Pete Bierden's Fundraising Page
Thanks for visting my fundraising page!
On April 20th, I will be running in the Boston Marathon. This will be my fifth marathon, and I have always been amazed at how much positive energy there is surrounding these races. Family, friends, spectators, and fellow athletes provide tremendous support during the race as well as the long training hours leading up to it.
This year, I hope to harness some of this positive energy to raise money to support the Jett Foundation and help combat Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
I learned about this disease and the Jett Foundation through some friends. Their son Calvin, now 7, was diagnosed with Duchenne when he was 5 years old. Duchenne is the most common fatal genetic childhood disorder. It is a very progressive muscle wasting disease primarily affecting boys. Most boys are wheelchair dependant by age 12 and most do not live beyond their 20's. There is no cure.
Please consider a donation of $1, $5, or $10 per mile for the 26 miles of the race (or any other amount). Your contribution will support the work of the Jett Foundation in hope that all the boys living with Duchenne will live longer, healthier lives.
Thanks for your support, and thanks for caring about Calvin, Jett and the boys like them.
