Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am a lawyer working for Her Majesty's Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) in London. In 2009, by a rather chance email, I got the chance to take part in the Police Unity Tour in May 2010. (Thank you for your email Michael T Rae). The ride is for Law Enforcement Officers and relatives of those killed in the line of duty and is to raise money in honour of the memory of those fallen officers. The organisers were good enough to extend their definition of law enforcement officers to include me who inspects the prosecutors.
The event is an incredible ride. 650 of us ride from New Jersey to Washington DC over a 4 day period covering some 300 miles. In Washington we join the other rides from across the USA and it makes a total of around 1500 riders riding in procession into the centre of Washington DC.
Last year we raised well over $1million dollars on the ride.
Sadly the number of officers killed each year in the USA remains far too high.As at 14th november 2011, a total of 141 officers had been killed in 2011. Over 20,000 officers in total have been killed doing their job serving their fellow citizens.
Please support me to raise money for this cause. None of the monies you donate go towards my costs of getting to the USA. I pay my own travel costs out of my pocket to support this event.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you are from outside of the UK, then donations need to be by credit card as the website does not recognise UK debit cards for some reason.
If you wish to donate other than by credit card, then please email me at peter.edwin.bennett [at] googlemail.com
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
