Welcome to the 4th Annual Gluten-Free Ultramarathon Challenge!
Each year I pick a major late-season ultramarathon as the focus race of a fundraiser in support of the gluten-free community. In our first three years, we've raised more than $9,000 for the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness.
But this year, the race is bigger and the stakes are higher. I'll be running in the very competitive and demanding CCC ultra through the Italian, Swiss, and French Alps. The race covers 100 kilometers and 36,000 vertical feet of elevation change, roughly the equivalent of running 2.5 marathons back to back while climbing to the top of the Empire State Building and back down more than 12 times.
This year, all fundraising will go toward supporting three new scholarships I'm establishing, which will be administered by the NFCA. The scholarships are focused on empowering student-athletes to live happy, healthy, and active gluten-free lifestyles. Two scholarships—one each for a male and female—are geared toward graduating high school seniors who will go on to play intercollegiate sports and similar endeavors. A third scholarship is for current college students that have demonstrated leadership advancing a healthy gluten-free lifestyle and awareness on their campus.
Please donate—you'll become part of starting something very special, and directly and positively impact the lives of young student-athletes.
