South America on Three Wheels
On March 12, 2011, I returned to Peru to purchase a three wheeled mototaxi with the intention of driving first to Tierra del Fuego in winter, then north around South America. I took a 110cc scooter to the top of the Americas, now it's time to take a 125cc bench to the bottom.
As of May 25, I've ridden nearly 8,000 kilometers at an average speed of under 40kmh (that's 25MPH!). I've run out of gas in the desert, gotten lost and driven through sand over an 18,000ft pass in the Andes, broken down multiple times, been forced to abandon my gear and hitchhike over 200km in total to borrow a front wheel, and driven through a massive snowstorm in Patagonia...
And the adventure continues!
