On Sunday, March 18, 2012, I will be running in the 2012 NYC Half-Marathon in support of Everybody Wins.  Since its founding in 1991, Everybody Wins! New York has been a leading nonprofit literacy and mentoring organization, pairing caring adult volunteers with children in elementary schools for weekly reading aloud and conversation.

Over the last twenty years, our programs have enriched the lives of thousands of elementary school students. EWNY’s goal is to reach students while they are young, stimulate a love for reading, and encourage them to believe that they can succeed in school and ultimately, in life. This past school year over 1,400 corporate and community volunteers served as weekly Power Lunch mentors to elementary school students in the New York City metropolitan area.

This is a new charity for me but its cause and efforts are something I stand firmly behind.  Reaching children while they are young to encourage education and self motivation is something that can be one of the core drivers of our countries future.
