Dear friends,

Thank you for visiting my charity fundraising page for the 2012 Five Boro Tour on May 6.  For those of you who don't know, this ride is a 42-mile cycling trip through all five boros of New York.  I've taken part in several of these rides in the past, but this year I am riding for a very worthy cause; Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). 

Just last year MSF medical teams treated tens of thousands of severely ill and malnourished men, women, and children displaced by conflict and drought in Somalia. In Ivory Coast, they performed emergency surgery on wounded people fleeing civil war, as well as those who remained in battle-ravaged cities. In Libya MSF teams were able to enter Libya quickly when fighting broke out and deliver immediate emergency medical and surgical assistance to victims of the violence.

Please help me reach my goal of $1,000 with your contribution.  Your donations are tax deductible, and easy to complete.  You can very simply dontate through this fundrasing page.  Or if you think the internet is a passing fad, I can provide you with a paper form to make donations with a credit card or by check.  To give you a picture of what each donation can do, gifts of:

- $10 purchases the material necessary to test 50 people for malaria
- $15 can provide two weeks of high‐protein meals to a severely malnourished child
- $25 can purchase a mosquito net to protect a person living in a malaria endemic region
- $35 can purchase enough vaccine to inoculate 85 children against measles 
- $50 can treat 30 adults or 60 young children suffering from malaria
- $100 can purchase supplies to build emergency shelters for four displaced families during a crisis
