This picture pulls on my heart strings.  Taken at the beginning of last year's walk, that's me with my littlest one, Mary perched on my shoulders.  Two of my other children, Matthew and Samantha are next to me.   This year I am particularly grateful to have the opportunity to walk.  In March I was diagnosed with Stage 4 tongue cancer.  I have just finished a very aggressive form of treatment and the prognosis for me is excellent.  The point being that one never knows how much time they have left and that my 22+ years of recovery gave me the tools to walk through this latest valley.  It wasn't easy, but it was manageable.  I have once again been given another reprieve and I can again make this walk, family by my side, because of recovery and the support of people who love and care for me.
