Dear Family and Friends,
On Sunday, May 23, 2010 I will be participating in Team Hope Walk for Huntington’s Disease in order to raise money for research and education.
For those who are not familiar with Huntington’s Disease, it is a hereditary, degenerative brain disorder. HD slowly diminishes the affected individual’s ability to walk, think, talk, and reason. HD is recognized as one of the more common hereditary diseases, affecting males and females and crosses all ethnic and racial boundaries.
Like so many other families, HD has impacted my family in unimaginable ways. Approximately 30, 000 Americans have HD and over 150,000 more are at risk. Current estimates are that 1 in every 10,000 people in the U.S. have HD, but the devastating effects of this disease touch many more. Each child of a person with HD has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the fatal gene. Everyone who carries the gene will develop the disease.
At present there is no cure for HD. Researchers are optimistic but we need your help. Please join us as we walk for a cure on May 23, 2010, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Montgomery County Community College 340 DeKalb Pike (Rte 202), Blue Bell, PA 19422
If you're unable to walk, please consider a donation through my website
www.firstgiving.com/phylliscoronado Donating through the website is totally secure and most efficient to support my fundraising effort. Join Team Hope today to find out how you, your family and friends can make a difference and bring hope to those living with HD.
If you prefer to write a check, please make it payable to HDSA (Huntington’s Disease Society of America) and mail it to me at my address: 739 Front St. Hellertown, PA 18055
Thank you for taking the time to read this important message and feel free to forward it to anyone who you think might have a heart for our cause.
