In 2009, Poodle Rescue of New England spent over $55,000 on veterinary care for poodles in our rescue program.  The average veterinary expense per dog increased  33% over 2008.   2010 year-to-date expenses per dog are tracking 63% higher than last year.  Sadly, donations have decreased just as the need is greatest.  Too many of the dogs coming into our program are long overdue for even the most basic veterinary care and are suffering from periodontal disease, abscesses, eye and joint problems.  Some have been abandoned,  perhaps because their families couldn't afford to care for them or treat their illnesses.   Many more were surrendered as the impact of the poor economy forced families to make the difficult decision to give up their beloved pets.  We are here to help these dogs, but we need your help.  All donations go directly towards caring for the dogs in our program.  No amount is too small, and every penny is appreciated.
