Dear New Music Friends,
The image to the left is the title page of a new piece of music we need your help to complete. It's also a good example of what goes into a Present Music concert. It shows how we start from scratch and create new music experiences for Milwaukee, and add to the national repertoire.
Buffalo Nation (Bison, bison), by Jerome Kitzke, is one of the biggest commissions Present Music has ever undertaken. It will be a 50 minute piece of theatrical music with libretto, involving a community “sound effects chorus,” staged in an inspiring venue at the Indian Community School, called the Drum.
We need to raise $25,000 to complete this project and stage it to its fullest potential when it premieres on May 7th 2011.
Of course, your gifts also help support the rest of the season, including first-time Milwaukee appearances by composers and artists that most of the world is just finding out about. We also continue to expand our award winning education program, the Creation Project.
Please consider a pledge of support, today, and help us bring new music to life!
