Thank you for supporting me through The Walden School's Compose-a-thon, a musicianship marathon to raise money for Walden's creative and nurturing programs for young musicians and teachers. With your help I met my target and a complete draft is in hand. Best of all, I'm in touch with a player who wants to assemble a quartet at Swarthmore College!

 

After a sudden and unexpected hiatus from writing when my right arm fell host to a 20-cm long bacterial infection, I find myself diving back into my art with this fundraiser. Composing is actually a part of my healing as I wrap my mind around the past two weeks of hospitalization and surgeries too urgent to have allowed mental and spiritual preparation.

 

With that in mind, the Compose-a-thon comes at a great time for me - it helps me process through my art the difficult and delirious moments of my illness through, with your support, an ensemble and venue for the performance of that music.

 

I'll attempted the 3x3 challenge, writing a minute of music a week for three weeks for saxophone quartet. My goal is to complete a highly polished, performance ready score for a three minute piece of music.

 

You could give $9, which is like donating $3 per minute of completed music, or $60, which is $20 per minute. You could also make a donation that has nothing whatsoever to do with the number 3, and I would still be thrilled. You could detour from the medium of my work and focus on the subject: $10 for each stitch -- there were 10, including 2 that didn't want to stay where the surgeons put them.
