As many of you know, Ayiesha and I have found a new passion in our lives – Running; and running in our definition like “Forest Gump”.  While we are still new to this lifestyle, and certainly newer to running “official” races - we are not new to the cause for which we are entering the NYC Half Marathon:  Autism.

 

Inspired by our niece Alyssa, Ayiesha and I have signed up for the race to specifically raise money for Autism.  Some of you have been fortunate enough to meet our family’s little bundle of joy, and I’m sure you’ve been just as amazed as we are to see the love and affection that she can warm your heart with.  In addition to the support Alyssa and others like her get from their family and friends, they also need our financial support in furthering research and understanding of Autism.  Our goal is for Alyssa to have a complete and fulfilled life, and we are confident that helping fund the Organization for Autism Research will do something to help us ensure the achievement of that goal for her.

 

Because this is particularly personal for us, we do want to make it clear that we are neither disparaged by Alyssa’s autism, nor necessarily hoping for a cure – we think she is perfect just as she is.  That said, further insights and transparency into Autism can only help us to help her succeed in experiencing the joys that life has to offer!
