Raiders of the Lost Tuk for JDRF
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
What we are doing: In Autumn 2010 we will be participating in the RickshawRun an annual event from The Adventurists. Our team, Raiders of the Lost Tuk, will travel 2,000 miles in 2 weeks across India in an auto rickshaw. A bit larger than a golf cart, prone to breaking down and having a max speed of 30mph, the rickshaw or Tuk Tuk is the ideal mode of travel across the subcontinent. Our unique and exciting journey is dedicated to raising vital funds for JDRF.
Why we are doing this: Besides sharing a quest for adventure, a desire to go outside our comfort zones and lack of common sense, it is about the cause. Diabetic research is a cause close to our hearts as our teammate Jim is living with Type 1 diabetes.
175 million people in the world have Juvenile Diabetes and India was recentlydesignated the Global Capital of Diabetes. Diabetes lasts a lifetime, often starting in childhood and can lead to: blindness, amputation and even death in some cases. There is no known cure.
Our fundraising goals: Our goal is to raise $5,000 for JDRF by September 10, 2010. This supports JDRF's efforts to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes. We want to inspire those living with the disease to pursue their dreams and show them that anything is possible!
How you can help: Your donation will make a dramatic impact as JDRF moves life altering research out of the lab and into human clinical trials. Any donation, large and small goes a long way in finding a cure.
