As most of you know, the reason I got involved with this was in memory of Rowena's nephew Bobby. He changed my opinion of what being in a wheelchair meant. I had never really been exposed to that before and Bobby taught me a lot about "being". I am thankful for the time I had with him, however brief, he was an inspiration to me and everyone he met.
Our first year (last year) was a humbling experience. We, as a family, took the journey from Mackinaw City to St. Clair Shores as our vacation. We met many Special Olympics Athletes along the way, and because of them and their perseverance, I will ride again. Rowena and the kids will follow along as Land Support, meeting me and the other riders at all the stops for fuel, food and support. With the word support being said, this is where you come in. Any dontation is better is helpful. Big or small, it all helps to make a difference in the lives of these athletes. Sometimes I think we take for granted how lucky we are, how able, not everyone can say that. That is why we ride, we ride for them, for those who can't.
The ride is over 400 miles, in 5 days! It starts in Mackinaw City and ends this year at Harsens Island. Click on the link below to see a map of the ride and schedule. Feel free to join us at any of the stops along the way. To view a few of the pictures Rowena took last year, visit www.facebook.com, Ray Filary.
FYI> Last year the Water Warriors raised over 150K for MICHIGAN Special Olympics. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT! (Remember It's 100% tax dedeductible)
