Police Chief Stephen McCarthy, who died September 23,2013, after a battle with cancer, is being remembered as a role model and devoted public servant among the law enforcement community.
McCarthy served the department since 1986, rising up from a patrolman, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and was sworn in as chief in 2010.
Red Bank Police Department has been deprived of the spirited leadership, that Chief McCarthy instilled. He was the epitome of a law enforcement professional. He exemplified what a Chief of Police should be. He conducted himself professionally and compassionately every day of his life and he will be very sorely missed by the police department.
Chief McCarthy is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, and children, Matthew and Jenna. We thank you for supporting the McCarthy Children's Fund.
