Leonard trains and competes in basketball, bowling, volleyball and softball. In his 30 years as an athlete he feels that Special Olympics has opened a complete horizon of opportunities for him. He has gained opportunities to meet athletes across New York, the US, and the world. He is excited for the World Games because it means his team has risen to the top of their abilities. It also means that he will be able to demonstrate the skills gained in his team's year-round pracitices and training. He is most proud of being an original athlete of the Capital District Volleyball team which has been together since 1984. He ha also been selected as the Albany County, NY Athlete of the Year, as well as volunteer of the Year. For the past 15 years Leonard has worked for the Picotte Corporation-NYS Department of Enviromental Conservation, where he does recycling. He enjoys watching baseball, football, and listening to tapes of his pastor's sermons. He previously attended the World Games in 1991 In Minneapolis, MN for Unified Volleyball.
