REEF equips families that live off-grid or too poor to afford electrical connection with 300 watts of renewable energy with an inverter, two LED lights, an efficient clean wood burning cook stove, and two deep cycle batteries. Cost to equip a family is $1,500.
Our Program is built to assist families overcome barriers to health and education with the goal of improving a family’s socio-economic condition. The materials provided afford families 4-6 hours of evening lighting, eliminate respiratory diseases due to poor indoor air quality with the removal of all bio-fuel candles, kerosene.
The Family First Program is the only known project in the Philippines providing access to light, clean wood burning stoves. Similar programs use a single tool to address multiple inter-related problems. Instead REEF aims to address concerns of education, health, energy and conservation using a systems approach developed with the individual and community in mind.
