We’ll I’ve gone and done it. I’ve finally decided to sign up…
I will be competing in the Ford IRONMAN ARIZONA race on November 20, 2011 in the town of Tempe, AZ! I am extremely excited about taking on this challenge but also realize the tremendous amount of commitment, sacrifice and hard work required to complete an event like this. It will be a looong season but I am “somewhat” looking forward to it!
This year will be a very special one not only because I will be attempting my first Ironman but also because I will be representing the 2011 High Cloud Dream Team. As part of this elite group of endurance athletes, I feel extremely honored and privileged to be selected as one of the members of the team. My goal is to not only represent the High Cloud Foundation at my races this year but also be a proud ambassador and promoter for the organization’s remarkable accomplishments and international endeavors.
Through this website and throughout the course of the year, I will be doing my best to provide current updates on my training status, upcoming events, and fundraising goals. Please feel free to check in from time to time to see what progress I’ve made along the way. Perhaps some of you may be interested in coming along for swim, ride, or run… I could probably use the company ;-) Here's my daily blog of my goings-on: http://www.dailymile.com/people/rbenig1
Please help assist me in my efforts to support High Cloud while I embark on my “campaign of self- inflicted punishment” by helping me reach my fundraising goals. Your 2011 donation will be tax-deductible and NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL!
Additionally, a portion of the proceeds here will go directly to the Tsunami Relief Efforts in Japan. As some of you may or may not know, Japan had been my home for just over 4 years before I was relocated to another assignment. It was heartbreaking for me to see these images of catastrophic proportions that the least I could do was help contribute to the relief and humanitarian aid necessary to recover from such a tragic event.
Sincerely,
Rhyne S. Beniga
