Ricardo & Carlos Camacho's Dream
Hello everyone, thank you for visiting my fundraising page. If you're reading this, it means you know or have an idea of who I am. My name is Ricardo Camacho. I'm a 19 year old latino student, who grew up on the southside of Chicago. I'm currently a sophomore from DePaul University, striving for what I believe in, a healthy future where our loved ones will be by our sides as long as they possibly can. I believe in this dream because my younger brother Carlos Alejandro Camacho and my family went through something very difficult in our lives recently, the struggle to keep hope and faith for the health of my brother as he was faced with the obstacle of fighting for his life. He developed kidney complications that could inevitably lead to a transplant last year at the age of 9 that was followed through with surgery right away to try to help his condition. Our lives were impacted greatly and it was easily seen through our faces at the time, being left with only hope and faith that he would recover. I realized the importance he had in my life, being the person I loved the most because he showed me how nothing will ever stop or hurt us. With by just a simple smile, everything would fall into place as we wanted it to be. In the end, he recovered. After a few months of surgery, he slowly but surely regained his health and was Carlitos again. We felt blessed. Our story is not the only one though. There are plenty of individuals and families who have gone through similar stories that haven't been told. Those of struggle and hardship. That is why I am running a 5K to promote and support the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois by participating in this year's Christie Clinic Illinois Marathan Race Weekend. I want to bring awareness to kidney complications and striving for a healthier tomorrow. I'm running a 5K, with the hopes of maintaining and promoting a healthy lifestyle, one composed of happiness, family, and love. With a small donation, you would be supporting me as I run for my dream. Donations are donations, but by just having your support is all that I need. The goal was set to $315 because of his birthday, March 15. May we stay strong to see loved ones by our sides today, as we smile, love and live. Thank you.
