Many of you know..it is my pleasure to serve as vice-president of the board of Men Stopping Violence, a really unique organization that has been around for 30 years. Men Stopping Violence (MSV) is unique because it works to end violence against women by getting men involved in building safer communities for women and girls.
On Saturday, October 27, 2012, MSV is holding its Annual Awards Dinner at the Four Seasons Midtown Atlanta. I'm the honorary co-chair of the dinner again this year, OUR 30TH ANNIVERSARY.
Our emcee is Russ Mitchell...former anchor of CBS Evening News and current anchor of WKYC.
Past honorees include Vice-President Joe Biden, Actor Hill Harper and Grammy award winning singer Tim McGraw. Our honoree this year is someone whose name is synonymous with non-violence..civil rights legend and Congressman John Lewis. Congressman Lewis was also the FIRST board president of Men Stopping Violence 30 years ago.
The reality is...it takes money to keep this work going. I know money is tight for all of us in this economy...still though...this critical work must continue. We'd be so appreciative of any help you could give spreading the word about Men Stopping Violence, the importance of providing safe communities for women and girls, and even making a donation right here on this page....NO amount is too small. It's safe and tax-deductible and goes right to MSV.
