Friends and Family:
Last spring Karen and I took the kids to Disney, as so many other parents and kids do during their school breaks. Needless to say the kids loved it, and I think I might have actually enjoyed it too.
While we were at the airport waiting to board our plane, we noticed this other family of four waiting to board the same flight. They looked and acted every part the same as we did. Excited kids, anxiously awaiting what would seem like a much too long a flight to get to see all those magical sights. The difference between them and everyone else we saw that day; they were there through the generosity and support of the New Hampshire Make-A-Wish Foundation. And they were as excited as anyone to be headed to Disney.
Shortly after our trip to Disney, I completed in my first 2 triathlons at the 2011 Black Fly in Waterville Valley, NH. I also found out about “Wish Racers”, competitors who take the opportunity to make these events into something more than just a personal accomplishment. They do this by raising funds for the Make-A-Wish foundation of New Hampshire.
This year I will be competing in three events known as the Lord of the Flies. The races begin on Friday with a 4 mile bike time trial, on Saturday there is the International distance triathlon (swim .25 miles, Bike 21 miles, Run 5 miles) and finally on Sunday there is the Sprint distance triathlon (Swim .25 miles, Bike 15 miles, Run 3 miles). That's 48.5 miles of racing. On Saturday Jordan and Brayden will both be taking on the Kids Triathlon this year. Each of them will be swimming 50 yards, biking 1.5 miles and then running a ½ mile.
All combined we’ll be covering just over 52.5 miles on July 6,7 & 8th. During which time we'd like to raise at least 10$ for every mile we cover that weekend.
Please help us support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and bring more wishes and children closer together. No donation is too small and all efforts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,
Rick, Karen, Jordan and Brayden …
