Dear Family, Friends, Colleagues:
Last year my "aha" moment was that I could ask all of you to support my run financially and you did. The results were dramatic. We exceeded my fundraising goal with your generous support.
This year my "aha" moment is that I can invite you not only to join me with financial support but you can walk or run with me too! There is a separate children's race, entertainment, free food and massages as well!
If you join me in the Oct. 3rd walk/run then your fundraising efforts combined with mine may make you eligible to sit in the Red Sox's Larry Lucchino's personal seats at Fenway Park!
The Samaritans befriends people who are depressed and often planning to commit suicide. People who call Samaritans and Samariteens are from all walks of life (unemployed, Veterans, students, stay at home parents and executives), ages (teens to seniors) and backgrounds.
Unfortunately, the call volume at Samaritans is dramatically rising but fundraising hasn't kept pace. Please support me any way that you can in this passion of mine to make sure that people in need of someone to listen, can get through to a Samaritan trained volunteer, who is a non-judgemental and ready to offer the comfort of letting the caller be heard.
Always,
Risa
This is the Samaritans tenth Annual Run/Walk, "Run for Someone Else's Life," along the Charles. There will be festivities to follow, which include live music, games, refreshments and a kid's race.
