If you have to be under arrest somewhere, the PHSGA Shelter is a pretty good place. The volunteers are very friendly, and I get out for a walk several times a day. Plus, I've made some very good canine friends. It would be nice if they could fit a SleepNumber bed in there, but it's a bit of a tight fit. Fortunately, my dogs agreed to lend me their dog beds (they are generously keeping my bed warm in my absence), and I have gotten reasonably comfortable by stacking them (starting with the nice bedding provided by PHSGA). The food is pretty good. And visitors give me biscuits. I am currently Vice-Chair of the Board. Seeing the animals (I love to go back in the Shelter before or after the Board meetings), telling about the animals (their stories are amazing). I have two dogs - Sam (a 7 year old Lab mix) and Scout (who will be 3 in December). I adopted Scout (a pit/boxer mix) from PHSGA in March, 2010,when she was a 12 pound puppy. She is 60+ pounds now, very bright, and happy whenever she gets to rule the roost. When I get out, I'll keep "telling the story" of the Shelter, and of our "Leg Up" capital campaign to finish the purchase of the Shelter.
