Many of you who know me know that I've had my sights on the Chicago Marathon for a long time. Well, this is the year. What I didn't know is that the registration for the race has a pretty slim window of opportunity. When I went to register, I was disappointed to discover that the race was already full (45,000 entrants!!). Thankfully a friend told me that they have some opportunities for late registrants to run for a charity. Even better, I thought!
I was blown away to find that one of the primary charities involved with the race was World Vision. Now I seriously couldn't be happier that I missed the cutoff. Having adopted two sons from Ethiopia, my heart is forever tied to Africa and its people, and I'm grateful for this opportunity to partner with all of you and World Vision to make a small dent in the indescribable conditions in Africa.
World Vision works to tackle the root causes of poverty by working with children, families, and their communities to provide things like clean water, health care, nutritious food, education, and economic opportunities.
You can support my efforts through Team World Vision by making a one-time tax-deductible donation. I know this is probably the worst time in most of our lifetimes to be asking people to give. But just having seen the conditions in Africa for the second time in two years, I realize every gift, no matter the size, is substantial and will change lives. I couldn't be more proud to be running for this incredible organization. Find out more at www.worldvision.org/content.nsf/getinvolved/teamwv.
