When I was child, my hero's were Batman, Superman and the Six Million Dollar Man!
As a teenager, my hero's were Reggie Jackson, Julius "Dr.J" Erving and Bruce Springsteen.
As an adult and a father of an Autistic child, my hero's are the people that sacrifice so much to help my son on a daily basis.
The therapists and aides that help him speak and express himself. The teachers and guides that give so much of themselves to get tiny little results from him are the real hero's to me. I cannot thank them enough for what they do to give Crew the chance at normalcy.
I am overwhelmed by the responses that we have received.
The generosity and support that all of you have shown has touched me deeply. I know that Crew would feel the same way if he understood what all of you are doing to help us.
Here is a sample of some of the things that people have written to me in letters and emails...
"This check is dedicated to my special needs sister that passed away in 2008. Her name was Lisa T. Thank you for doing this"
"You two have motivated me to lose some weight and walk my son in his wheelchair"
"You are an inspiration to Dads everywhere"
"dude, i'm sure dad's everywhere are cheerin for you!"
"You have already won by bringing awareness to people"
"What a tribute to your son and the those in the Autism community. "
"Thank you"
"Bob, I am covinced....You have lost your mind" lol
"Luck is not needed here for you. Dedication is and you definetly have it for your son"
"5K is 3.1069 miles. I am donating $310.69 for you going the distance for your son."
My message to all of you;
Crew and I are truly blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives.
We thank all of you for your support and contributions.
