Robert Linton's Fundraising Page
Late last year Bill Spreitzer asked me to join Team Hansen and run in the Marine Marathon on October 26th 2008. I was honored to be asked and immediately thought of my mum who had died from cancer the previous year. It was an easy decision for me as the loss of my mother was and still is a painful open wound.
Team Hansen are a group of dedicated runners, and some like me - classed as Clydesdales - who wish to be dedicated runners, who are running the marathon to raise money for lung cancer research.
Named after Eric Hansen who fought this illness for seven years before losing his battle, our objective is to raise $100,000 for research.
Well I have trained and this old body has never been able to break the 8 mile mark. The idea of running 26.2 miles gives me nightmares and makes me break out in a cold sweat. Although I cannot run the full marathon this year, I will be running the 10K and continuing to support my team mates.
I ask my friends and family to support me in any way you can and make donations through this secure web site. Almost every family has been affected by this dreadful disease and funding for research comes largely through the efforts of dedicated people like Team Hansen.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Love to you all,
Bob
