Thank you for visiting my extreme Personal Fundraising Page for Special Olympics Virginia's Polar Plunge ® Winter Festival 2011. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
Here I go again for the 4th time. 1st time wasn't bad. 50 deg and the water was calm, 2nd time, it was ok, a
little cooler and more wind. Last year, snow came at me sideways (See Picture) and the ocean so rough that the safety people cut the area we could go in the water in half. (I haven't been that cold since the P-3 ride from Norfolk to Brunswick Maine in January with no heat). This kind of weather makes me appreciate Cherri’s’ love for St. Thomas even more.
This is what I’ve been doing in February, freezing for SPECIAL OLYMPICS. I’m just trying to give something to those who won’t make the ESPN highlights but still have a love for sports and a true sense of SPORTSMANSHIP.
Here’s the deal, I’ll freeze my butt off in the Atlantic Ocean in February if you’ll help me with a donation to Special Olympics. Times are tough for some of us and I can understand that so you can also help by praying for a really, really, really warm day and for the Gulf Stream to move in to the coastline of Virginia Beach.
Special Olympics changes lives by benefiting more than 9,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across our Commonwealth and impacts communities in many powerful ways. Your donation to Special Olympics Virginia through this event is vital in making transformation possible and changing views about people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Virginia uses sports as a catalyst to change society’s perceptions and treatment of people with intellectual disabilities. This is an incredible cause, and I hope that you will come down and watch me take part in this great event.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate, too.
